How MOSAIC works
Many models, not one
Rather than training a single monolithic model across all nodes, MOSAIC assigns each machine a structurally simplified variant, scaled to what that machine can actually run. A powerful GPU node trains a full-depth model. A CPU-only node trains a compressed version. Every node contributes.
Data never moves
Each node optionally trains exclusively on data that already lives there. MOSAIC's planner allocates work proportionally - larger shards to stronger machines - but the raw data itself never crosses a network boundary. What travels is only model weight updates: aggregated, numerical, and impossible to reverse-engineer into source records.
The coordinator is agnostic to your data
A lightweight Jiva coordinator node collects model updates, runs weighted aggregation (stronger models contribute more), and redistributes an improved global model. It has no access to training data. It does not need it. Its role is mathematical, not custodial.
Resilience by design
Nodes fail. Networks slow. Hardware is replaced. MOSAIC treats all of this as normal. When a node drops out, training continues on the remaining nodes - no global restart, no data loss. In cross-region experiments, MOSAIC completed runs that synchronous frameworks could not finish at all.
